Replanting in front of the Lodge

November 20, 2022

One major task for 2022 has been the complete replanting of the tiered garden beds in front of the Lodge which had become quite tired looking. We removed most of the daffodils and bluebells and have replanted the tiers with shrubs that will provide colour all year round.

We have put in carex, loropetalum, hebe azaleas, cistus and rosemary and as spring restock occurs in local nurseries, we will plant some further colourful plants. The daffodil bulbs removed were potted and sold at modest prices as a fund raiser.

On Sunday 9th October, (right at the start of Welcome Weeks) an enormous Eucalyptus fell just to the left of the Lookout. Thanks to the Volunteers and Tim from Treeminded, it was removed by the following day. Damage to the plantings was slight – though the tree was not. Tim cut much of it to be used as seating in the Conifer Garden Shelter Shed.
