Welcome weeks 2022

November 20, 2022

Welcome Weeks, which started on the October long weekend and finished with the Blackheath Rhododendron Festival weekend, was a great success. Our first Tea Room since the start of the pandemic was a glorious success! So many folk told us how wonderful it was that we were once again open and there were many compliments about “the fluffiest scones I have ever had!”

Out front, the renovated Information Booth was another success. The extension provided an ideal place from which to sell souvenirs and greater shelter on the cold days – and there were quite a few of those but thanks to Sarah’s donation of a heater and the power supply provided by Michael, we were relatively comfortable. Rain didn’t keep the visitors away and the Meet and Greeters were kept quite busy handing out maps and answering questions.

There were many compliments on our new track signage as well as plaudits for the way the Vols have brought the Gardens back from the drought and fire.

Festival Weekend broke ALL previous Festival Weekend records. We put this down to the beautiful weather, the public’s ability to once again enjoy the Gardens without restrictions plus the inaugural Australian Gnome Convention which was an outstanding success. Reports are that this brought people to the Gardens who had no idea it even existed, so we expect return visits from these new CRG lovers.

And “yes”, the gnomes loved our Gardens and will be back again next year.
